雷獣シュート - Raiju shoot - Raiju shot

A powerful shot that Hyuga learnt in order to defeat RJ7's striker Ryoma Hino. The idea of this technique came to Hyuga after seeing one of Maki's special softball throw (World youth arc, chapter 27, pages 16 to 19).
When Maki is using her riser ball, her arms is hitting her hips on purpose, to make her arm act as a lever, giving more strength to the ball. Hyuga emulated this by making his leg hit the ground before he's shooting, giving it spring power like a bow firing an arrow (World youth arc, chapter 28, page 5).

The resulting shot has a straight course, before eventually rising (World youth arc, chapter 28, page 11). Even though the rising effect can be a bit surprising, it's normally not enough to defeat keepers, the shot strong point is more its speed and destructive power (World youth arc, chapter 53, pages 130-131).
With a speed of 223 km/h, and impact power of 350 the shot seems a bit weaker than the tornado shot, but it also had a speed of 255 km/h and impact power of 390 (World youth arc, chapter 55, pages 82-83) while shooting against a strong wind (suggesting it's actually even faster and stronger), when Hyuga did it on a jumping volley using Tsubasa's spikes instead of the ground. It is unknown if that speed and power can be attained only on jumping volley, or on regular raiju shots as well, or the reason behind these variations.

Hyuga can perform it on volley shots (World youth arc, chapter 54, pages 82-83) as long as the ball is low, but not if it's high (World youth arc, chapter 53, pages 16-17), unless he has the help of a teammate (World youth arc, chapter 55, pages 74-75). Supposedly, he can also do it with the left leg (Brutus magazine special double pages).
The shot's weak point is that it cannot be performed alone on high balls (World youth arc, chapter 54, pages 109 to 115), however, it isn't affected by a strong opposite wind (World youth arc, chapter 55, pages 14-15).
Due to hitting the ground, this shot is actually straining the legs (World youth arc, chapter 29, page 79), so Hyuga is sealing this technique during long leagues (Road to 2002 arc, chapter 15, page 11).
