He was among the best 24 players of the Junior High School Japan Soccer Tournament (Captain Tsubasa arc, chapter 84, pages 68-69), but didn't make it into the U-16 japanese team (Captain Tsubasa arc, chapter 85, page 104).
During All Japan Jr. Youth's campaign in Europe, he'll appear from time to time as a supporter in Japan, especially during the finals against West Germany (Captain Tsubasa arc, chapter 107, page 8).

He can fiercely dash towards a ball when it looked like no one would be here to receive it (Captain Tsubasa arc, chapter 65, page 7). He can be marked by Saseki and Kondo (Captain Tsubasa arc, chapter 65, page 57).

High ball contest
According to coach Kurata, players should watch out for the power of his headers (Captain Tsubasa arc, chapter 65, page 7). He can take advantage of his speed during high ball contests (Captain Tsubasa arc, chapter 65, page 40). He can jump as high as Kato with his arms raised during high ball contests, but can forcibly make the ball go in the goal with his header (Captain Tsubasa arc, chapter 65, pages 41-42). His jumping header can be easily caught with a full body catch by Kato if Honda Saseki and Kondo collectively defended against him during the high ball contests (Captain Tsubasa arc, chapter 65, page 49).
