World youth
Selected to play for Japan youth for friendly matches, without Tsubasa playing in the Brazilian pro league, Wakabayashi gone missing, Hyuga, injured during the finals of the senior high school national tournament, and with Misaki in a bad condition and falling into a slump, they'll lose their first two friendly matches against Netherlands youth, said to be the strongest in Europe at the time, pretty badly, 0-6 and 0-7 (The strongest opponent! Netherlands youth, pages 29 to 43).
Desperate to show a better performance, Japan youth will train in tears in the middle of the night, and be surprised to see Tsubasa who came to help them. Thanks to Misugi's advices for the defense, Hyuga playing thanks to a painkiller injection, and Misaki playing despite his slump, they'll show a better performance but will still have troubles because of Tsubasa's current condition which isn't perfect (The strongest opponent! Netherlands youth, pages 50 to 79). However, energized by the sudden appearance of supporters in the stadium, Tsubasa's condition will improve, Wakabayashi will also appear to support Wakashimazu to not take any more goals, and everyone to win this match (The strongest opponent! Netherlands youth, pages 80 to 87). They'll contribute, along with Jito by scoring a goal with their skylab twin shot, and
the match will end up with a victory 10-1 (The strongest opponent! Netherlands youth, pages 100 to 103).
They'll watch the broadcast of Tsubasa's match against Santana's Flamengo (World youth arc, chapter 6, pages 46-47).
They'll be selected among the 22 members participating in All japan youth first training camp (World youth arc, chapter 10, pages 17-18). With the eviction of 7 youth members at stake (World youth arc, chapter 14, page 50), they'll be among the second group to play against the Real Japan seven, and them and their group will badly lose (World youth arc, chapter 15, pages 52 to 55). They'll be among the 7 evicted members because they can't play without each other, but they will have another chance for the 2nd round of the asian preliminaries (World youth arc, chapter 16, pages 15 to 17).
After a long special training in the mountains of Achimantai in Akita, they will want to go back to the training camp, and will be joined by Ide Tamotsu who also wants to join All Japan Youth (World youth arc, chapter 29, pages 1 to 5). After arriving at the training camp (World youth arc, chapter 29, page 13), along with the other excluded members for the rematch against the Real Japan seven. Since there is no keeper among the excluded members and one is needed, one of them will take that role to prove that they can play without each other, despite being a novice keeper, Kazuo will manage to stop easy shots, display a great jumping power. Just like the other members, Masao'll show their real progress, with new techniques like the monkey keep and the giant flying squirrel jump, as well as scoring with a skylab hurricane. Gamo will stop the match before the end at 10-2, not allowing Kazuo to play as a field player, despite this, Gamo will allow them to come back to the team, and reveal that the true purpose of the Real Japan seven was just to be a sparring partner, since most of them can't play in the World youth, due to various cirumstances, most of them being age restrictions (World youth arc, chapter 29, pages 20 to 87).
During the Asia youth championship, with Aoi earning two yellow cards and unable to play against China youth, they'll be fielded against China youth (World youth arc, chapter 35, pages 20-21), starting with Masao (World youth arc, chapter 35, pages 62-63), Ishizaki will encourage him by telling to show the "monkey power" of All Japan youth, to which he'll answer that Ishizaki is the one with a monkey face (World youth arc, chapter 35, page 68). His skylab hurricane, done with Jito will be able to defeat Hi in height (World youth arc, chapter 35, pages 118 to 121), (World youth arc, chapter 36, page 8), but showing too much confidence in his skylab hurricane will allow China youth to eventually score with persistence (World youth arc, chapter 36, pages 10 to 20). With his legs at their limit at the beginning of the second half, masao will be replaced by Kazuo (World youth arc, chapter 37, pages 33 to 42). They'll qualify to the World youth after winning against Iraq youth (World youth arc, chapter 42, pages 8 to 11).
Returning to Japan, after a press conference, they'll go back to Akita, planning to go to a hot spring (World youth arc, chapter 44, pages 2 to 4). After learning that the World youth may be cancelled because of a civil war in the host country, Burunga, they'll worry about the World youth being cancelled but also feel guilty to rest in a hot spring while a war is occuring (World youth arc, chapter 45, pages 2-3).
In the World youth, Ide will suggest using their aerial soccer to counter Mexico youth's lucha special techniques (World youth arc, chapter 52, pages 9-10). Which will be successful (World youth arc, chapter 52, pages 54 to 60), they will defend eagerly until the end of the first half despite Mexico youth's domination (World youth arc, chapter 52, pages 80-81). But Garcia, seeing that his back is too injured for his teammates to use it for jumping, will commit a foul on them, injuring them and earning a red card, making them unable to play for the rest of the match (World youth arc, chapter 52, pages 94 to 105), and will in fact be unable to play for the rest of the World youth (World youth arc, chapter 62, page 23).
