J Boys challenge

He'll take part in the All Japan Jr. youth training camp (Captain Tsubasa arc, chapter 85, page 11), and make it into the team (Captain Tsubasa arc, chapter 85, page 104).

Pretty successful in Japan against Senior high school teams (Captain Tsubasa arc, chapter 85, pages 60-61), when starting the european campaign, they'll lose against Hamburg Jr. youth (Captain Tsubasa arc, chapter 88, pages 38-39), then against Bremen Jr. youth (Captain Tsubasa arc, chapter 88, pages 94-95). As a result, Italy Jr. youth will cancel the friendly match against All Japan Jr. youth, to preserve their players and because they do not consider it worth it, everyone will be pretty pissed off, while he will think it may be better this way, considering they wouldn't be able to win, and won't be an embarassement for Japan (Captain Tsubasa arc, chapter 89, pages 9-10). When Tsubasa played with them however, they won against Bayern Jr. Youth (Captain Tsubasa arc, chapter 89, pages 76-77), Amsterdam Jr. and Belgium Jr. Youth (Captain Tsubasa arc, chapter 89, page 82). And despite his attitude and what he said about Italy Jr. youth refusing to play the test match, he'll play against them in the International Jr. youth tournament with feelings of revenge towards what they did (Captain Tsubasa arc, chapter 92, pages 56-57). Despite Wakabayashi being hated by the team because he keeeps on criticizing them, he's aware that Mikami may still choose Wakabayashi as a regular goalkeeper because Mikami was his private coach (Captain Tsubasa arc, chapter 90, pages 15-16). He will also eventually snap at Wakabayashi, but Hyuga, aware that Wakabayashi is playing the role of the bad guy to fire up the team and make them improve will tell him to keep his vigor against their opponents, and not one of their ally (Captain Tsubasa arc, chapter 90, page 40).

Like everyone else in All Japan Jr. youth, he'll train additionally to get better (Captain Tsubasa arc, chapter 89, pages 54). His defense, along with with Jito, Ishizaki, and Matsuyama will surprise Gino (Captain Tsubasa arc, chapter 92, pages 56-57). Against France Jr. youth, he'll trick Napoleon with his razor pass (Captain Tsubasa arc, chapter 98, pages 28-29), but tasked with marking Napoleon (Captain Tsubasa arc, chapter 99, pages 6-7), he'll tackle Napoleon's pivot leg as after he has passed the ball (Captain Tsubasa arc, chapter 99, page 5), that incident will turn into a fight between them, making them earn a yellow card each (Captain Tsubasa arc, chapter 99, pages 10 to 12), then, even though it wasn't on purpose according to him, he'll hit Napoleon during a high ball contest, earning another yellow card and having to leave despite his and Tsubasa's protests (Captain Tsubasa arc, chapter 99, pages 30 to 39). Despite not knowing what's going on, he'll cry in the meeting room, imploring his teammates to hold on (Captain Tsubasa arc, chapter 99, pages 54-55). After hearing that France is leading by 2 goals at half time (Captain Tsubasa arc, chapter 99, pages 78), he'll pray to god for victory, even though he doesn't believe in him, because it's the only thing he can do (Captain Tsubasa arc, chapter 99, pages 91). Anxious because his teammates are late to come back, not knowing that the match went into a PK shootout, but be so relieved once everyone will be storming back shouting that they won, that he'll cry of joy (Captain Tsubasa arc, chapter 102, pages 38 to 40). He'll play the finals against West Germany Jr. youth (Captain Tsubasa arc, chapter 103, page 35). Comment: Many were surprised by this, since 2 yellow cards (so a red card), are often accompanied by suspensions of one or more games depending on the competition. One of the anime even corrected this by making another one play instead of him. However, even if this is probably indeed a mistake, you should still keep in mind that, as I said, rules depends on the competition. Some gave a clean slate at some point, sometimes allowed a player not to miss the final despite an accumulation of yellows. It wouldn't be far-fetch that this International Jr. youth Tournament, which is *very* short, and *doesn't exist* in real life to have some specific rules on red, yellows, suspensions and clean slates. This is a fiction, and a fictional tournament, Takahashi can make up his own rules if he wants. End of comment. In the final against Germany, he'll give troubles to Schneider along with the other defenders (Captain Tsubasa arc, chapter 105, pages 22 to 24), (Captain Tsubasa arc, chapter 106, pages 30-31), and will be praised for being a guardian deity of the team (Captain Tsubasa arc, chapter 108, page 94).

He'll try to get in the Tatsunami senior high school with Nakanishi (Captain Tsubasa arc, chapter 111, page 7). He'll apparently succeed and take part in trainigns along with Nakanishi before the entrance ceremony (Captain Tsubasa arc, chapter 114, page 14).
