0 min: Hamburg is obviously aiming for the draw as, despite their newcomers, they have a very defensive formation, a 5-4-1, while Bremen is going for their usual 4-4-2. Hamburg's regular keeper Wakabayashi is still benched however, to preserve his wrist injured in the previous season. As for Kaltz, he went to the top team. It'll all come down to how the newcomers will fare against the two times champions, unchanged, Bremen.
8 min: After a short period where both teams were evaluating each other, Schester is finally going full throttle and is getting past Hamburg's playmaker Metzer. Schester is sending an accurate long pass, Margus is jumping and forcibly shoots the ball in the empty goal, as Hamburg's goal keeper is blown away. GOAL! Already 1-0 for Bremen. 22 min: Schester is obviously taking the upper hand against Metzer. The latter can't find his usual pace, while Schester is calmly playing like usual. Hamburg's defence is still very tough, and is holding on nicely despite the early goal they took. 44 min: A pass from Metzer is blocked by Schester, but the ball is still dangerous as it's going high towards Hamburg's striker Kappelman. Bremen's defense is jumping higher though, and the ball is cleared. HALF-TIME: Just a one goal lead for Bremen but it may already be a decisive one since Metzer is hardly managing to do anything against Schester. It's a wonder the score isn't worse for Hamburg. 46 min: Bremen looks like they're surprisingly using the birdcage, perhaps a taunt at Hamburg's nasty habit of using it too often. 52 min: Bremen is stopping the birdcage, surprising Hamburg and launching a fierce attack, middle shot from Schester, but blocked by one of Hamburg's defender. Corner for Bremen. 54 min: Hamburg's goal keeper manages to punch Schester High corner kick away before Margus can reach it. It's repelled towards Metzer, finally free of Schester! 56 min: Terrific counterattack from Hamburg. Metzer went up the field before launching a long pass, which surprisingly went faster after bouncing once on the ground, just as Kappelman went past Bremen's defence line. Kappelmen shot a jumping volley unmarked, with a very sharp bending effect, completely defeating Bremen's keeper. GOAL! It's finally time for Hamburg's hotline to shine. 1-1. 64 min: The last goal obviously wasn't part of Schester's plan, and he is starting to panic, as his attacks are way more rushed than usual. Even if Metzer isn't particularly successful marking Schester, this is enough to buy enough time for Hamburg's other players to adapt to Schester's choices of attack. Schester's last pass still reached Hamburg's penalty area before being cleared. 68 min: Schester is getting a hold of himself and is finally back to his usual, calm self. But luck seems to be on Hamburg's side as a volley shot from Bremen's other forward only finds the goal post after beating Hamburg's keeper. 79 min: With so many passes towards Margus, it's obvious you should mark him, but there are way to many of them... Schester has Hamburg's defense in the palm of his hands! He's starting a breakthrough, and easily manages to go all the way to the goal for a one-on-one against the keeper... GOAL! A very important goal scored by Schester, as he dodges the keeper's charge and score in the empty goal. It's over! Schester thoroughly marked Metzer who was unable to send any other ball to Kappelman, who spent the rest of the match waiting for the ball in frustration, 2-1 for Bremen. |
