The Captain manager relationship
I'm calling that the unbreakable and absolute relationship of the manga: Tsubasa and Sanae, Misugi and Yayoi, Matsuyama and Yoshiko. Note that it's ONLY possible with Captain and Manager, see, Machida Machiko can't have Matsuyama, already taken by Yoshiko, so she's single. Period. She won't even go for Oda (well, maybe she's just a sane girl, 'cause who'd like to go out with Oda really). Yukari never went out with Ishizaki in middle school. When he's the captain of Nankatsu in High school though... Bam, they're together in World Youth. Levin? We all know he'll end up with the girl in the Sweden staff, right? And just for that to happen, fate had his former girfriend *killed*. Beware the power of the Captain-Manager relationship. Misaki's parents would still be together if only they were captain and manager.

Who's single? Uchiumi Hiroko
I gotta start with Uchiumi (Hyuga's interpreter and Italian teacher), since she's actually the one who gave me the idea of pairings single women in CT with a male character, ever since the scene in "In Calcio" where Hyuga and Akai say they have girlfriends and Uchiumi should just go out with Aoi. Well, of course, that's a bad pairing, though. If it wasn't for Maki, I'd actually pair her up with Hyuga, after private italian lessons, they could have other kind of private lessons if you know what I mean, *wink*, *wink*. But well, there's Maki, so I guess it's impossible. So, once Hyuga goes back to Juventus, Gentile could date Uchiumi I guess? He does look like the kind of playboy who could make older women fall for him.

Who's single? Hayakawa Azumi
Let's face it, Azumi is single. Yes, she was probably in love with Misaki, but their relationship never advanced and after giving him an address for a doctor in World Youth, she's completely gone. I actually thought that in Road to 2002, the doctor and Misaki made a better couple than Misaki and Azumi. But the doctor has a girlfriend, so... Even in Golden-23 which was kind of "Misaki's arc", we never saw her even once. Looks like he just doesn't swing that way, and I guess Fujoshi who might be reading this will rejoice, but I'm not pairing Misaki with boys here, I'm trying to pair Azumi. I think that experience with Misaki will prevent her from going after other "field's artists", so Pierre is out of the question (the guy had A ROSE IN HIS MOUTH in a one-shot). Napoleon is a bad idea as well, 'cause he looks like he'll beat his wife. Anyway, it looked like Azumi was back in Japan in World Youth, so we might as well pair her with a japanese, right? I think she should go for Wakabayashi, the reason would be vengeance. Misaki never looked at her, so she has to date someone better than him, and since Tsubasa and Hyuga are already taken, only Wakabayashi is left. Moreover, in the pilot, Tsubasa and Wakabayashi were both in love with Sanae, so, Wakabayashi might as well fall in love with "the other" Sanae.

Who's single? Sugimoto Kumi
Kumi... I want to say, poor, poor, Kumi. She was rejected by Tsubasa and left crying at the end of Captain Tsubasa. Then Yukari is yelling at her in the end of World Youth because she believes in prophecies. No wonder the poor girl never shows up afterwards, even her friends are rejecting her. Doesn't she deserve some hapiness? Her and Kanda (you know, the boxing guy who was in love with Sanae) could've consoled themselves, it happens in lots of mangas after all, but it didn't happen. So she likes soccer boys, good ones is better, lives in Nankatsu, and is two years younger than the majority of the golden age... And I think, as some readers of my "another series" could've guessed, that the perfect match is Nitta. Among the best japanese players, Tsubasa, Misaki (well, maybe...) and Ishizaki are already taken. That leaves Nitta, who is also one year younger. It's so logical I wonder why it didn't happen yet.

Who's single? Matsumoto Kaori
Kaori, the one who scouted Hyuga for Toho. Truth be told, once Hyuga was eighteen I'd have liked for some sort of relationship to form between them (Yeah, after Uchiumi, her, I don't know why I want to pair Hyuga with older women). She's becoming his agent and look like she's got some complicity with him in Road to 2002, and I'd dare call that teasing, and since Hyuga is on the masochist side (you know... putting chains on his body...), Kaori could take the tease on a whole new level, becoming a sadist queen. And I feel like Hyuga's pride need to be matched with a woman who won't be bossed around. She's a career woman, making me feel like she'd try to take the initative (I'm not saying all career women are men eaters, I just have that fantasy). But there's Maki... Crap, if this goes on, I'll throw her under a bus in my "Another series". Well, let's find someone else for Kaori. Misaki's father... Man, what a bad match it'd be. An artist with a career woman. Maybe Kira? He's training boys, then Kaori can become their agents. Well, that'd make them good associates, but I don't think Kira's alcoholism will allow him to date anyone. I guess all that's left is Kitazume, Toho's middle school coach. Not great, but he's still a decent man.

Who's single? Machida Machiko
Machiko, I already mentioned her earlier (you know, the glasses girl of Furano). Well, most of us would match her up with Oda, since he's from Furano and Matsuyama is already taken. But who'd go out with Oda, when there's so much people available in the golden age? Aoi? Too young. Jito? I'd find that interesting actually. We already know he's interested in women since he was jealous of Tsubasa, who got Sanae and Kumi. But there's also Soda, delinquent with glasses girl, or Yankee-kun to Megane-chan, which is actually the title of a manga by Miki Yoshikawa. There might be a thing with delinquents coupled with another having glasses, since besides Yankee-Kun to Megane-chan, there's also Yandere Kanojo, which is pairing a delinquent girl with a glasses-wearing boy. So, definitely Machida and Soda.
27 april update: Also, Tsurezure children, delinquent Ryouko kaji is with glasses-wearing school council president Masafumi Akagi. I'm telling you, I'm into something here.

Who's single? Hyuga Naoko
Hyuga Naoko, Hyuga Kojiro's little sister. Don't know when she'll actually turn 18, but she has to go for one of Hyuga's friends, right? Sawada should be the closest in age, but he isn't really handsome. Sorimachi is already better, but if Wakashimazu doesn't go oversea too soon, it has to be him. The guy is manly, he's handsome with his long hair, he does soccer AND karate, and I can really picture a traditional mariage with kimonos between them, Wakashimazu because of his old-fashioned karate dojo and father, and Naoko because she looks like the shy and discreete bride type, looking down in a kimono during her wedding.
